WHAT COACHING IS NOT
A coach is not a therapist, a counselor, a mentor, a consultant.
HOW IS COACHING DIFFERENT FROM THERAPY?
Coaches never treat medical disorders such as anxiety, depressive disorders, addiction and phobic disorders. Coaches work together with “highly-functioning” individuals. This means that the assumption is that the client is in good mental health, is willing and in a position of achieving their set goals. The client just needs coaching to help implement effective strategies.
Coaching doesn’t focus on why things are what they are, but focuses on what can happen now? It shifts issues and challenges into desired goals. Coaching looks ahead, and not at your past.
